Representative Graig Meyer Statement on Decision in Partisan Gerrymandering Case

Today, by a 5-4 vote, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that partisan gerrymandering claims present political questions beyond the reach of the federal courts, upholding the 2016 North Carolina congressional maps. Rep. Graig Meyer released the following statement in response: 

“Democracy works best when every voice is heard. Manipulating maps for partisan gain is a direct attack on our democracy. Today’s Supreme Court decision revealed that we must double down on our efforts to elect Democrats to the legislature in 2020 to enact non-partisan redistricting and ensure fair maps for all North Carolinians.”
